Help for Landowners [HFL], (a 501c3 Non-Profit), is pleased to announce its newest board member to help support the organization’s work to improve underserved and socially disadvantaged landowners’ access to resources and assistance.
“We’re excited to expand our board with Lysia H. Bowling, Esq. who will bring diverse expertise and insight to our work,” said Tonya Michael. “We have worked diligently to ensure the HFL board and leadership represents a variety of experts from government, private sector, higher education, and advocacy groups, and the newest board member is no exception.”
Lysia H. Bowling has dedicated her career to public service and brings to HFL extensive legal and leadership experience in federal, state and local government and the benefit of broad exposure living and working in diverse communities with different public service priorities.
Ms. Bowling is a former Senior Advisor at the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, DC and has served as chief legal advisor for natural gas, electric and water utilities, provided strategic counsel on high profile environmental regulatory and enforcement matters, directed workforce redevelopment of distressed communities, and accomplished clean energy and economic development initiatives with international partners.
According to Ms. Bowling, the most rewarding professional experience is serving people directly and in a role that, at its core, involves assisting underserved and marginalized individuals during incredibly difficult moments, being genuine, accessible, respectful, and building trust.
Ms. Bowling holds a B.A. from Yale University with a double major in Political Science and Latin American Studies and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Virginia School of Law. She is licensed to practice law in the states of Texas, Florida, and New York. She is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
